When does round not count for handicap purposes?

Posted by: user121151 | Sun 17th Oct 2010 21:53 | Last Reply

Played yesterday at nice course Linden Hall in Northumberland.

However, it was fairly wet underfoot, so preferred lies were on. If this were a club competition, would the round count for handicap purposes? (i.e. should I enter it on Scoretracker?)

Couple of weeks back at Ravensworth, we played on winter greens (including a couple of holes playing a shot below the par on the scorecard). I shot a 78, but there was no doubt that this was not a qualifier for handicap purposes, although my handicap would have come tumbling down!

Colin, we've debating this previously on the Golfshake forums and I would suggest you enter and track your score but use some selective common sense approach with whether you tick the handicap track box.

For example, unless a winter card is issued, if you are playing off winter mats (moved forward) and possibly temp greens (also moved forwards) then I would argue that you don't track given the course will be considerably shorted.  However if the course issue a winter score card then I see know problem.

Yep, Jane, sounds like Colin is trying to avoid a handicap cut winkhttp://www.golfshake.com/scripts/ckeditor/plugins/smiley/images/wink_smile.gif" title="wink" />. Start of the TGA Winter League and  all that,

How's the golf in Florida, and are you back in time for the game at Washington?

I'm now taking bookings and  advance payment for playing in my (sorry, winners group)laughhttp://www.golfshake.com/scripts/ckeditor/plugins/smiley/images/teeth_smile.gif" title="laugh" />

I'm always wondering how to manage my handicap on here - whether to have 2 different ones or just stick to my club handicap.......

Up to you Dave.  Some people add all rounds played and only set the handicap track ones inline with their club handicap, others track their handicap on here for all rounds and surprisingly only see a 1 shot or so difference.

Regards, Darren.
