can anyone tell me,if when playing 3 quater stableford if you get over 27 points(3 quaters of 36 when playing full handicap) your handicap is reduced....as a friend of mine seems to think

Handicap has nothing to do with stableford points, handicap is worked out by total number of strokes in ratio to the SSS of the golf course you are playing.

Christian,

Todays Hcp system is based on Stableford. The most you score on a hole is Nett par +2 or No Points. If a Qualifying Comp is played off anything but full Hcp, your Hcp is still adjusted against the score you would do with full Hcp allowence.

Also 36pts is not the Hcp target, if SSS is 69 on a par 72 course, 39pts is playing to ones Hcp.
