Moving house!

Posted by: user293240 | Sat 9th Oct 2010 20:05 | Last Reply

Well me and 'er indoors should be moving to Chineham north of Basingstoke.

Luckily I'll still be a southerner and one of my closest Golf Courses (6 minutes by car) is non other than our very own JP's home course of Sherfield Oaks!

Just when you thought it was safe to go and play golf

If you are thinking of joining sometime, let me introduce you, Matt.

You are perfectly correct, JohnG, but an introduction by another member has a small benefit to the member doing the introducing.

He will have to be quick then, Wayne, as I am not signing up on Nov 1st for another year.

With no buggies being on over the winter I have decided to resign my membership at Sherfield Oaks and am looking to join an excellent course on my doorstep, which has buggies operating all year round as the course is free draining being built on gravel.

It is an excellent course, maybe a little too long for me, but very nice to play.

Check it out - Caversham Heath Golf Club.

Yes, they have Dave, as you know. South Winchester being one of them, where it is possible to get a buggy throughout the winter, but it is a long way to go and of course I have to pay full price for the buggy. In fact we all played there today.

I have been offered a good deal, in my opinion at Caversham Heath. They will give me two months free and then pay for Jan, Fen and Mar for a total of £197.

I am going to see them tomorrow and hopefully manage to negotiate the buggy for this period on a pro rata basis as they have already said that I can have a buggy whenever I wish for the princely sum of £200 per year - £4 per week.

I am quite sure that I will be able to conclude a deal with me offering £83 for the buggy till the end of march.

This course is fantastic, Dave, nothing of Crown's comes anywhere near for quality, but it is long. In fact it is 6652 off the yellows, 6875 off the whites and 7151 off the blues. You will love it when you come to play it.

I might add the clubhouse prices are not rip offs either and the quality was much better than Sherfield, but then again this is a private club and not a pay and play.

I will have reciprocal arrangements at Wokefield, Donnington Grove, Donnington Valley, West Berkshire and Test Valley.

Looks like I will soon be 28 handicap.
