Ryder Cup Rip-Off
I feel sorry for all the spectators today at the Ryder Cup.
With such a long delay due to the rain that wouldn't have been much to do other that the shop and having a drink, or something to eat.
You can imagine the rip-off prices that they will be charging there.
I remember going to a Ryder Cup when it was held at the Belfry.
It must have been a while ago as I remember Nick Faldo getting a hole in one!
A bacon roll was £2 and a cup of tea was a pound. This was very expensive at the time and I bet it's the same this time round.
It would be interesting to hear from the people who have been there what the prices are like.

Stephen, it looks like with all the bad weather today you'll be seeing far more golf than you would have expected. Get there early and enjoy the golf.
A clear sign of rip-off prices is the 'Don't take your own food in with you'.
Why would they hold a major sporting event at a place where you cannot park you car and walk to the course?
£20 to park you car on a piece of grass and then jump on a bus to take you to the ground. What a nightmare!

Organising an Event this size can be a nightmare. THREE Roads into the venue which is not on a Main road itself. Wouldn't most people be willing to pay the £20 knowing that they will be on their way home within a decent time. No queueing for two hours, just to get out of the Car Park.
Also if everyone bought their FoodDrink inside the venue, it would keep the prices down. A Vendor pays for his Pitch and needs to take enough to pay their staff and cover costs.
Some of us know what to expect and why, even though we may not agree with it.

Russ still an awesome atmosphere. I was shocked with the amount of die hard fans sat in grandstands whilst the rain kept coming. One group of 3 sat in the 17th grandstand from 12pm until 4pm and gave up when the announced the restart knowing the players wouldn't make it!
Once the players came back out the scenes were immense despite loads of fans jacking it in due to the weather. The banter and chanting was something I've never experienced. Not surprisingly given the 7 hour delay and the all thing to do hitting the bars there were a few fans struggling to walk straight by close of play!
Looking forward to tomorrow now and the extra golf that will get played.

Rip off don't think so! and with out doubt one of the best organised and impressive displays of inferstruture , logistics I've ever seen. Entry and exiting the event was a breeze and where would you possibly park cars at a golf club for upwards of 45.000 visiters. The food and drink was on par with any other outdoor event I've been too and when you consider how much tickets are for Formula 1,International rugby ,Premiereship football good value for money. (if it doesn't rain and like me your tickets were freebies )

David, I do not think for one minute that if everybody who attends this event bought their food and drink there they would drop the prices!!!! Rip-off Britain is alive and kicking.
When I watched the Ryder Cup at the Belfry you could park your car over the road and walk to the entrance gates. So who thought playing this event at a venue without the infrastructure to cope with the visitiors was a good idea?
I don't go to football games or the formula 1 event, guess why not? That's right..... Overpriced. The same reason I don't pay stupid money to play some of the golf courses in this country.
Taped the golf from this morning and I'm sat here watching it. They did show a burger van but I didn't see any prices!
I remember attending the Battle of Britain day at RAF Finningley (now Robin Hood Airport in Doncaster). When I mentioned to one of the guys in the burger vans about the prices he said, "The prices are set by the organising committee, so they couldn't charge what they wanted, they had to all charge the same prices". So this to me means that there is no competition between the burger vans. The commitee set high prices to rip-off the punters!
I'd hate to think what the merchandise is costing in the shop, the mind boggles.
When I went to the Belfry to watch it I thought about getting a jumper/polo shirt but once I saw the prices I gave it a miss.
It will be interesting to see how much a bacon roll/tea/coffee ect are
