I broke 70 for first time
Played in a Notts Professional and Amateur Golfers Alliance fixture at Bulwell Forest Golf Club yesterday and carded my first ever sub 70 round of 69 to a par of 68.
Even though it is a fairly short course you have to position your ball off the tee on the front 9, you cannot just blast driver. Front 9 was -1 and back 9 was +2. Bogeys at 12/13/14 where 12 & 14 were tough and long par 3 (both 200+) where I didn't get up and down close from the green and 13 where I hit a poor drive.
Still I feel an acheivement in carding my first sub 70 round.

Great round, Martin, especially in a competition of that stature. Well done indeed.

Well done, did you manage to score 52 points?
Reply : Thu 23rd Sep 2010 10:17
Not quite, played off 7/8 so received 5 shots so score was 40pts. Don't think it qualifies as bandit score !!!

you bandit!!!!!
have you tracked this score or are you keeping your handicap high

7/8ths eh! Martin, obviously the alliance takes the game seriously. Good to see.

The NAPGA has played 7/8 for as long as I can remember and there is a handicap limit of 16. Should anyone with a higher handicap wish to play they are off 16 receiving 14 shots.

Do you mean to say that they do not accept proper congu handicaps of 28? My goodness.

5, nearly 6, shots inside your handicap? One word - BANDIT!!!!! Shocking. How you have the nerve to show your face on here is beyond me. You should be ashamed of yourself!
Seriously though, well done Martin. A great milestone to achieve. My aim is still to break 80 so I'm really jealous. Congratulations

I have requested my card be sent to my club to be assessed, but don't think it would be after looking at CONGU as a CSS has not bee calculated. WE did play the course to it's full length and I do want it to be used.
As most of you know I only track mt GS hcap against my club one so unless I go up 0.1 from this Saturday's medal then I shall be off 6. Sorry fellas !!!!!
Could be off 7 also !!!!!!!!

Had my card back and have processed the away card at my club and my handicap has come down 0.8 so now off 5.6.
Played medal at my club yesterday and although didn't play bad at all no putts dropped and shot 83 !!!!!!!
Just shows when the short stick works and when it doesn't makes a huge difference.

yeh, was hoping to get down in saturday's medal but never holed a putt and just didn't quite play well enough. Score looks worse than the round actually was.
Got another couple of chances before the end of the season and this was a goal of mine before the summer started so really close.
