Anyone playing the National Matchplay?
Anyone playing in the national amateur matchplay championship organised by The Golfers Club with the Daily Telegraph? (http://www.matchplaychampionship.co.uk/)
Is it me or are these guys really slow. Been waiting 2 weeks to here news of the second round draw; response to emails is non-existant; and the website has not been updated for ages. I'm beginning to think they have run off with my £20!!

Depends if it's 3/4's handicap

Just looked at the leaderboard & the mens leader scored 47 points on day1, 44 points on day 2 & only a measly 40 points on day 3. He is a clear 11 points ahead of 2nd!!!!!!

Hi John
Those scores were last year's finals. Those scores are for a pairs betterball so probably not so shockingly high - still good scores though.
My original post was really just to see if anyone else in the GS community had entered this event and if they are having the same issues in lack of communication from the organisers.
Cheers...

Paul, I thought those were individual scores as there are pairs scores below them?

Much as I love to whinge about "dodgy" handicaps, in this case it is definately pairs. The 3 groups shown are mens / mixed / non-official handicaps - all separate competitions.
Have been following the thread on the Golfshake 2011 Matchplay. Love it... there's nothing like a good debate on the validity of peoples handicaps. One thing that will never end in our beloved game!!

Thanks David.
I eventually got a call back on Tuesday afternoon. They were very apologetic and blamed "technical problems". On Wednesday I eventually received an email with the second round draw. I do get the impression that they are rather disorganised this year. Can't comment on previous years as this is my first time I've entered.
I remember when registering that they said that the home course would be that of the first name on the pairing. Maybe you entered it that way?
Anwyay, see you in Dubai for the final...

As well as using golf forums like this also trying posting on their Facebook or Twitter pages. Great way to get customer service and sometimes faster answers than the email route!
