Getting towards Autumn Dave, with plenty of leaves about. Don't know what Daz will do if he comes across some in a bunker. I would be worried about his mental health with all those feelings flooding back.

Dave,
I've spoken to the green keeper & he's going to put some pellets down to get rid of the slugs on the day

I like cleobury.
The lodges there are nice, and very reasonable.
The 6th on Badgers is my fav hole.

As Darren's playing with me I'll be stood over him in a menacing manner holding a 6 iron if ever his ball goes into a bunker. And it'll be his 6 iron
Reply : Tue 14th Sep 2010 21:42
If he should go in the bunker and there are leaves I shall let him remove a leaf.
When we get to the green and he thinks he has won the hole I shall inform him has broken the rule regarding loose impediments and promptly inform him he has lost the hole. We then walk to the next tee.
Does this sound familiar Dave ??????

Hey Darren you would be advised to take one of these to use while waiting for Captain Sow and the Slug. They've even designed one for Captain slow whilst waiting for the Slug.

David, are you running a 2's comp?
everyone puts in £1 and the pot is then shared equally amongst the players whp record a 2 on their card.
in the event of no winners donate the money to the air ambulance or another good cause.
one more thing. playing of 3/4 handicap, is that for the 27 holes or just the afternoon 18?
Reply : Thu 30th Sep 2010 14:36
Robert, I think the plan is to ask if players want to put £2 each into a pot & then the best team stableford wins it.
With handicaps the 3/4's will apply over the 27 holes. For example if your hcap is 20 you will receive 15 shots. You will get 7 on the first 9 holes SI 1 to 7 & then 8 on the 2nd 9 holes SI 1 to 8. On the last 9 you will repeat the method for the 1st 9. This only applies to odd handicaps.
This is the way I have always played 27 holes.

Hi Guys Its a pairs better ball comp. Lowest net score wins over 27 holes. Odd 3/4 handicaps to receive extra shot on first 9 only.
For example im off 20 so 15. I will get 8 shots first nine and 7 other 9's.
If you all want to put a couple of quid in the pot tomorrow for the winner, thats fine by me. I wouldnt mind if someone else took the mantle for this as Ill be sorting out payments etc when we all arrive.
Thanks and see you tomorrow - PS there is one spare buggy left if any pair is interested.

Guys,
Lets just think about something else. Just because the 3 nines have indexes 1-9 the players with odd handicaps lose a shot.
I think a fairer way of doing it is to say that on the 9 holes in the morning 3/4 handicap allowances are halved therefore using the example above 15 becomes 7.5 and is therefore receives 8 shots. Then in the afternoon "18" they get 8 shots on first nine and 7 shots on second nine.
My point is that they would be potentially losing a shot on the 9 holes in the AM where as a player who has an even 3/4 handicap allowance gets his full shots.
You cannot distinguish between any nine where the "odd" and "even" indexes would be.
I am sure that all the "odd" handicap players would be disappointed to "lose" a shot just because the indexing goes against them.

David. If everybody agrees i will help out and collect £2 of each player during lunch break. then the winning pair can get some of their costs back.
Wishing evryone a safe journey, see you there.

Martin, they wouldn't lose a shot in the morning if Dave's method is used, it would be lost on the last 9. As its a 2 ball betterball it shouldn't make a huge difference? I'm not bothered either way
Reply : Thu 30th Sep 2010 20:21
It's been set up & advertised as a 27 hole comp. You'd need to gauge everybody elses opinion ondonations.
Reply : Thu 30th Sep 2010 20:45
IMO doesn't matter if shot is lost in the morning or the afternoon. Te odd handicapped players STILL lose a shot because even and odd indexes are not recognised.
Again I stress players with even handicaps DO NOT LOSE OUT. They get their full allowance

Only your virginity Waynetta !!!!!!!!!!!! lol
Reply : Thu 30th Sep 2010 21:21
I would say your hair but................... Martin, sort it out with Dave tomorrow I'm sure he'll accommodate the majority.
Reply : Thu 30th Sep 2010 22:14
as it is a 2 ball betterball i dont really think 1 shot would make the slightest bit of difference.
as we discussed earlier martin i do agree with you to a point as if a certain 9 holes would have been odd stroke indexes then yes you would lose a shot but then on the other side if they were even you wouldnt.
but then this is where the confusion starts, how do you differentiate between which nine should be the even and which should be the odd stroke indexes
personally to be fair to everyone we should have the morning 9 as a warm up then the aternoon nines as a 18 hole comp but hey what do i know
but then if dave has posted the rules then why should we be arguing as we all know rules are rules!!!!!!!
after all it is only 1 shot!!!!

I say full handicap but split across 27, not 18. So if a player is off 18, he gets 6 strokes on each 9. In the case of handicaps not divisible by 3, the shots come on the earliest 9 holes. So: -
18 hcap - 1st 9 = 6 strokes, 2nd 9 = 6 strokes, 3rd 9 = 6 strokes
17 hcap - 1st 9 = 6 strokes, 2nd 9 = 6 strokes, 3rd 9 = 5 strokes
16 hcap - 1st 9 = 6 strokes, 2nd 9 = 5 strokes, 3rd 9 = 5 strokes
Not quite 3/4 I know (actually 2/3), but I think the easiest way to work it
