Handicap adjustment question

Posted by: user48341 | Mon 12th Jul 2010 17:37 | Last Reply

I'm currently on a 24.7 handicap and at the weekend scored 95 gross on a par 72 (SSS 68) course (Rother Valley) and managed to score 40 points (even with a disastrous 9 on the 17th). I was expecting my handicap to go down a bit but apparently not according to the Golfshake calculator. Is this correct?

Cheers,

Peter Wilson

In very simple terms, for calculating your handicap assume the SSS is the par.

Thanks, everyone

The 9 was on a par 4 hole of SI 13. A case of not taking my punishment when I should have done, I'm afraid. I was absolutely sure I could clear some trees straight out of a bunker on the corner of a dog-leg with a pond right behind the green.....

I'm learning about course management - but very slowly!

"this is the same peter wilson that leaves everything to the last minute, including boarding the plane!!!!!!!"

Note to self:  Ensure Peter Wilson is in the last group for the West Mids GS Open Qualifier as he'll miss his tee time otherwise.......

As I always tell my wife when she's getting distraught when we find ourselves 50 miles away from an airport with only 2 hours to flight time, I haven't missed a plane yet.....but that B'ham episode was as close as I've ever got to missing one. So, lesson learned - and I promise I won't rely on the satnav to find the airport car park ever again.

If Forest of Arden is anywhere near the M42 junction 9 "Bermuda triangle" I should be OK to get there on the actual day of the event - probably.

Errrrr, M42 junction 6 is the right place to get off.  This is the same exit as for Birmingham airport.  I suggest you set off a day early.
