I've gone and done it again

Posted by: user127691 | Tue 6th Jul 2010 15:49 | Last Reply

After recently replacing my irons as I had lost the 7 iron to my last set, I have gone and LOST my 9iron to the new set. (Taylormade tour preffered 08 in case anyone has one knocking about by chance)

The problem I face now is that I can find a single iron in america but with postage it is nearly £120 so it is nealry as cheap to buy a new PW and 9 from an alternative set to replace the 2 I have now, I even toyed with the idea of buying a full set of MP32's off ebay just to use the 9 &PW out of them.

So before I do part with a big lump of cash does anyone have a set they don't want the 9 & PW to? Probably looking to get a pair of forged blades as I'm not to fussed about the cavity for these iron's and if they are forged I can easily get them bent to suit the lofts in my exisiting set.

Can't help you with the clubs I'm afraid Gary.  But I'm intrigued, exactly how do you keep losing clubs?  Have you thought about tying some string round the grips and threading two together up your sleeves - worked with my daughter and her mittens...

The one thing I don't do is put a club down off the green.

I always lay my club down on the green, that way if I walk off the green after putting there is a good chance I, or one of my playing partners will see it.  If we don't then the next group along will.

So many times have I seen somebody put a club down a few yards off the green, then putt out.  The next thing they do is walk to the next tee, completely forgetting the club laying on the ground.

Over the years I've found a few clubs and they are always just off the green.

I hand them in at the pro shop and hope that the person who lost it will ring them the next day and reclaim it.

I left both of them on the range, I've never left a club on the course I carry my bag so never have a reason to walk up to my ball with more than 1 club.

I think I have just been unlucky the 1st club was left at the local range and was probably picked up by some occasional hacker who thought he could save himself a quid on club hire everytime he went up.

The second was left on the range at my club which is a big kick in the teeth you would expect a member to hand it in, problem ther is we have alot of corporate players (the reason memebership is so reasonable). More than likely one of those picked it up but you would think they would have a full set of clubs and would not have a need for an odd 9 iron but I suppose some people are just morons.

In both cases though if I had not been stupid enough to leave it behind neither of the torags with my irons would have had the opertunity to pick them up so I think the blame has to lie on my shoulders.
