New Driver
I am currently looking around for a new cheap driver. I have found the Yonex- VMass 350 driver and i was wondering if anyone else has or has had this club and if it is any good?
Also are there any other drivers that you can suggest that are affordable for a 16 year old?
Cheers
Adam

look at MD golf. the drivers are VERY good and bargain price. I tried a friends md superstrong and loved it ! I tried to get him to swap it for my Nike sq but he wouldn't.

Thanks every1 for your advice and thanks for the offer sanders longdrive. But as im still growing i dont really want to spend that much on a club after all(not yet anyway as i might grow and therefore it might get too small. I have found the Yonex- VMass 350 driver on Directgolf for £20 and its usually around £80 so i'll give that one a go.
Cheers

The problem is with doing the Directgolf route Adam is that you'll get what you get - there's no room for adjustment and unless it works out of the box for you you're stuck with it. I would really consider Sanderslongdrives offer if I were you, he will get one to work for you and has a vested interest in making it work for you rather than just selling something for a bit of commission. OK, it's probably a bit more than you wanted to pay, but it'll be worth it, believe me, and you've got to ask yourself why they are selling an £80 driver for £30 (usually just to get rid because they aren't popular/good...).
And Chris was right, I use an MD Superstrong, cracking club - always highly rated (but always in the 'budget' class for some reason) - with a Prolaunch Blue shaft expertly fitted by Mr Ley - that cost me £50ish all in.
PS Ivan - I'm not quite 18*, will you make me one?
* for the 3rd time

As soon as I read that Ivan, I knew that you certainly understand what is required from a shaft. I laughed at the poker that twitches - so apt.

Ivan - not strictly true your statement that no-one knows how a golf shaft works. It's fairly simple in mechanical and physical terms, even allowing for the largest area for area, the tolerances of the material. I'm not too good on the physics of composites, never my field, but calculating the performance characteristics of a metal shaft is a pretty straightforward process (done it a few times with my FEA modeller here). However, when the 'operator' is introduced this really puts the cat amongst the pigeons, as it's impossible to accurately model the characteristics of a human. This is the reason that the manufacturers use robots to strike balls, it's a predictable, and programmed swing. Not so with us meat bags, unfortunately!

Probably best to leave this thread alone now, Ivan - think we've strayed somewhat off topic! However, I'm intrigued by your posts and would like to have a look at the research paper you referred to in your last post - any chance you could PM a direct link to the article? I feel there is some mileage in this....
