Changing the course boundaries!
I played in one of my golf club's major competition on Saturday.
On the 16th hole there is an OOB's all the way down the left of the hole. This is due to the hedge being the boundary of the course.
Down the right hand side of the hole is the par three course. It is OOB's if you leave the main course and go onto the par three course. This is marked by OOBs' posts.
The par three course had fallen into disrepair but last year they started to get it back into use. All nine holes are now back up and running.
When we got to the 16th tee I hit my drive and it faded up onto the hills which run between the 16th fairway and the par three course. Having been up on those hills many a time I walked after my ball.
Having a quick look for my ball I found it on one of the hills but to my disbelief there was an OOB's post between my ball and the 16th fairway!
The club had moved the OOB's marker posts to protect the people playing the par three course. But they hadn't put up any notices either in the clubhouse, changing rooms and at the starter's hut!
Then today I was playing in my pairs matchplay competition.
On the 17th hole I again hit my driver with a little bit of a fade, the ball landing short of some trees. When I arrived at my ball I found that again, the OOB's marker posts had been moved and my ball was now OOB's!
There is a white board on the starter's hut that has the heading 'Course Information', but nobody had thought to put up this piece of information!
Has anybody else got a golf club that forgets to keep the members informed of changes to the course?
