Bunker ruling

Posted by: user16106 | Sun 9th May 2010 21:41 | Last Reply

I hit a 7 iron into a bunker today. Upon inspection it was in what only can be described as a hole the size of a mixing bowl at the side, but in the bunker. I had an incling it was caused by a dog  but I had no proof . I had never seen it before. I played the shot as it lay and just forced the ball out of the bunker then ended up with a bogie. Then I winged about it for 3 holes.

Is there any ruling that would have given me a drop into the good part of the bunker? or is it just hard luck?
