London Golf Show

Posted by: user199058 [FORUM MODERATOR] | Sun 2nd May 2010 09:42 | Last Reply

Well, went to the London Golf Show and must say I was somewhat disappointed. The lack of big companies being present (only Nike had a real stand - definitely a professional set up) and a lot of travel companies / charity 'similators'!

I managed to break the long drive machine twice (apparantly hitting the ball too hard!) but got nowhere near the long drive (about 20 yards short).

One thing I was wondering - why did Golfshake not have a stand there? Would have been great PR!!

It appears the only one worth a visit is the PGA show in Orlando!!

I went to the golf show at the NEC a few years back and it wasn't very good!

Lots of timeshare people and only a few of the main players from the equipment market there.

I decided after that no more golf shows for me!

It was my first time this year. I was very disappointed, all travel and gimmicks as far as i could see. Thought there might be some more representation especially from the club manufacturers and clothing side. Taylor Made were trying to charge my friend £20 to test clubs for a custom fit but had no tracking machines at the show, so effectrively would only be striking in to a net 40 yards away, granted you get that back if you buy clubs from them but how on earth are you supposed to guage ball flight/spin etc - what a rip off!I did manage to pick up a Motocaddy bag free of charge when i bought my S1 trolley from Nevada Bobs, the £100 saving was worth the £10 parking charge alone. Other than that and a Ryder Cup T-shirt i came back with nothing else, much to the delight of my girlfriend! We ended up leaving early to have a round at Hadley Wood in the afternoon.

I am not surprised there was no one there, ExCel has got to be the worst signposted place in docklands.

I dont think i will be going again..
