Torrance Park finally opening

After lying idle for 10 years (yes 10 years), Torrance Park Golf Club owned by David Murray on the outskirts of Newarthill Lanarkshire is finally opening this coming weekend (Sat 1st May)
There will be membership available for the next 6 months (course will be open 1st may-31st oct)at a very reasonable 200 pounds. Was up walking parts of the course today. While there is still work to be done on the far side (larger area of course) with regards to drainage,walkways etc the near side 6 holes were looking really good, with fairways and greens all in good condition
Speaking to 1 of the greenkeepers he told me that David Murray wont be pouring anymore money into the club until all issues with the council regarding the building of houses and access roads are resolved, so the club will be relying on getting a good turn through the gates and all money generated will go directly into the course maintenance. Also, the clubhouse will not be erected until 2012
Having played this course last year when the had an opening day i thought the layout was really impressive with the making of a real nice track
Come saturday i know where i will be as this course is only a stone throw from my house 
will be 200 quid well spent
