stranded
Hi Guys,
Is any one stranded in the current flight situation,
I was due to fly back to the uk on sunday but had my flight cancelled. we are in mallorca, and the is only 1 ferry a day which is booked until june. so we just have to sit and wait for the flights to start again. or for the Spanish authorities to add extra ferries.

Exactly Wayne, as its an act of god! insurance is not paying, so we are having to pay for the extra cost of staying here, also try and find the money to get back if we can eventually get off the island. and carry on paying the bills at home.
to make things worse im in a bar with pro golfer, but have no clubs, shoes, or wear so cant do that either. lets hope the beach is on again in the morning

Paul,
are you sure on the insurance? I have a sister who works in insurance & their saying that some policies are paying out as they are classing it as an 'adverse weather conditon' not an act of god.

I have a friend who is stuck on Fuerteventura, all his accommodation and food is being provided by his Tour Operator. He is on a Package Holiday and is enjoying these 'Extra Days'.
A lot of the people who are complaining are on DIY Hols and have to vacate their accommodation. That is why they are cheaper.
The real bad stuff is the Car Hire companies that are charging rediculas prices, £1600 for a car from Oslo to Calais!

My parents were stuck in Majorca. They were due to fly back Sunday. The airline asked them to move to a hotel closer to the airport and have been paying their bill (the hotel was apparently not too bad). The airline informed them on Sunday that they had moved them onto a flight on Thursday.
My dad went to the airport this morning to check everything at 10:30 and was greeted with a "Do you have your bags with you?". He said "no" and got a "Can you be back here with your bags in 40 minutes?" He said "Yes, why?" They said "We have seats available on a flight leaving at 12:00. If you want to go home, I'll put you on it now". Three hours later, my dad phoned me from Manchester airport to say they were back home.
Despite all the bad press there has been, my parents are very happy with the way they were treated and feel the airline couldn't have been more helpful. They booked their flights with jet2.com and booked their accomodation seperately.

Chris,
I live in Leeds and Jet2 is my local airline. I know it was the local news but Jet2 seemed to be the only airline doing anything to try and help their customers. They booked 90 coaches and sent them to Madrid. This was after setting up an Emergency Office and trying to get people home.
A plane left Leeds this morning to Majorca with only about a dozen passengers. That might be the one that your parents flew to Manchester on. That plane may then fly to Leeds.

Hi Lyth.
Apparently Jet2 delayed the flight to give as many people as possible the chance to get on board. They actually cancelled the flight to Leeds/Bradford, filled the Manchester flight and bussed passengers from Manchester to Leeds/Bradford. It took of with just 6 empty seats. The only reason they cancelled the Leeds/Bradford flight was to keep the plane back so they could try to get that one filled up later in the day to fly more people back rather than fly back two half-empty planes and leave more people stranded.
It's nice to see some operators being flexible and trying to do their best to help people. I hope this level of customer service does not go unnoticed and they are given the credit they deserve

Chris,
They fly to Faro and do a deal for Golfers with their clubs. Last time I flew back into Leeds with them, we landed at 01.10hrs and we were back in our house by 01.45hrs.
