How did that happen Tim? I managed to get to the airport in one piece, a lot less scary than coming from Faro to Alvor.

Paul, congratulations on your win, it appears that it was not a happy event after all.

I didn't get that impression. Well done Paul. The last game at Gramacho was not like Silves where it became unplayable.

I really hope people aren't saying that. I can completely understand people choosing not to play on Friday (and I nearly walked off after 4 holes myself because conditions didn't appear to be improving) but everyone knew about the new tee times and had a choice of playing or not. And from memory, the winning score (34?) would have been good enough to win or place on any of the other days we played. Let's keep this in perspective and lighten up: a) it was a holiday and b) the prizes won't exactly allow anyone to retire early, will they?

There will be plenty of whingers on the south team after a thrashing at N V S. No change there then.

Now don't get carried away, David as I seem to remember it was the north that took the thrashing last year.

Don't you dare give them back Paul. You won them fair and square and everyone had the choice to play or not. I turned up and declined to play because I didn't want to get all my gear soaked again, but that was my decision even though I was standing on the tee.
Simon is right and it was a conversation we had a few times at Pinta - after all, neither of us seemed to be playing golf at the time rather taking some clubs and a bag for a walk...

trouble in paradise ?
Reply : Sun 14th Feb 2010 20:45
Not really paradise but a lot better than snow in England. Simon is right everyone knew the rearranged tee time but the clouds and rain made the decision for the majority not to bother, including myself for the reason expressed by Tim. So which ever way you look at the last round. You can only beat those that play, no matter how many and as only a few did play that decision was correct. The fact that we decided to play the final round for the overall title at the Abbey as all the contenders will be there on the Sunday surely balances the discussion.
Paul, dont you dare think of returning anything. Fair's fair and if anyone seriously thinks you won the trophies by default then they are wrong.

And well done, Paul on your deserved victory last Friday - "You've got to be in it to win it" as they say - and you just missed out on the longest drive as well.
Good to see you all last week - Hope to catch up with you all again soon.
Cheers,
Peter
