Golf videos online - keen on a discussion!
Hi forum users,
As Darren well knows I recently set up a company called Visual Golf, as active online golfers I’d love to get your thoughts and opinions on what we offer.
In short Visual Golf produces good quality golf video content so golfers can view the golf, facilities, accommodation etc of a golf venue or destination online before making a buying decision – i.e. – do I want to play golf there, does that look right for me, will my expectations be met, etc.My website is http://www.visual-golf.com/index.php - this is a B2B site but you can see some examples of the videos we’ve already produced at http://www.visual-golf.com/our-clients.phpI’d love to get your thoughts on our golf videos to date... do you find them helpful / informative / useful? Is this style good for you or do you find it too ‘sales’ driven? Would you want a more honest, independent review of a resort or course?
Any thoughts / comments / feedback would be hugely appreciated. I’ve worked in golf travel for 8 years, I’m 29 and my passion and aim is to provide golfers with quality video content that will educate, inspire and excite!Look forward to hearing from you.Tim Stansbury

Paul(s),
Many thanks for your comments and for taking a look at the clips we've created to date. I do agree that to get as much of a focus as possible on the golf is key, especially for a film targeted at a tee time / golf day client.
A lot of venues do want to cover all elements of their venues however, especially if they've got a hotel / leisure facilities etc onsite. In my experience (especially when on golf breaks) golfers don't just buy on the golf alone and also consider the rooms, bar, restaurant, leisure, etc. Do you agree?
Paul (W), you’ll be glad to hear we’re currently in negotiations with the Rednapps and should hear back from them and day now!

Tim, it is obvious that your market for your videos is the many country house type places that have included golf as another means of making their presence more appealiong to a more discerning clientele whose main pripose is the excellent acommodation and the fine dining.
I have sampled this in Aphrodite Hills (One of your courses listed) and also at Punta Ala (Nr Grosseto) in Tuscany. The golf at these places are secondary to them and treat the golf as just another attraction at their resorts.
The average golfer in the UK is looking for the best value for money when going on a golf holiday and because of this, these kind of places are not even investigated.
I am off to Chateau Vigiers, Monastier, Nr Bergerac, Dordogne in March as a prize from a comp at my club but I most certainly would not entertain this venue because of the expensive accommodation and food offered. Here is a link to this wonderful place, perhaps you could do something for them. http://www.vigiers.com/

Hi John, thanks also for your comments, very helpful to get different viewpoints. I hope you enjoy Château des Vigiers in March, I actually visited there a couple of summers ago (to play golf we didn't stay) and enjoyed it. They've got some good holes and it's really well kept, nice 19th as well to enjoy a beer overlooking the estate.
You are correct in saying these type of venues are my main target and that they often see golf as one part of an encompassing offering. I do feel however with the huge increases in video being viewed online, faster broadband speeds, etc, short promo videos have a place for stand alone golf clubs that are focused on generating revenue from visiting golfers (green fees, society days, corporate days, etc) that undoubtedly in this day and age will do their research online. Video is a great way of 'seeing' a golf course / club without actually being there, educating to hopefully help golfing buying decisions.
I'm really interested in Pauls comments though about providing some sort of honest / insiders review of a venue (for better or worse) as apposed to a more corporate message. I think golfers would connect with this style even more and really believe what they're seeing. What do you think?
Many thanks again.

Thanks Wayne, the feeling I’m getting is the forum would like to get honest genuine reviews of golf courses, resorts, destinations, from an independent source, whilst also showing shots of the venue, course, signiture holes, pros tips clubhouse facilities and more.
This is great news as this is I feel the direction promotional videos should be going. Golfers can get true reviews on courses from the Internet these days (including Golfshake of course) so a video should fit in with this.
