Todays Game

Posted by: user52922 | Wed 25th Nov 2009 20:27 | Last Reply

I played today at Sherfield Oaks with four other members, Darren, Domel, Ron and Mike Hobden. 3 Single figure players plus myself and Mike.

As we did not start intil just after 1230 we elected to play as a five ball, usual fiver in the pot. As there were no buggies allowed I had to walk and it was decided that I would use the nearest players clubs as I felt that I would be unble to carry a bag as well as get myself round.

It was tough going but a good game was had by all. Domel being the winner wth 36 points off 7 handicap, but the most interesting part is that the five of us completed this round in 3 hours 20 mninutes. The first nine holes we managed to keep up with a two ball in front of us, but they got away on the back nine.

I am now totally cream crackered, with blisters on both heels and have decided that is enough for this week, although perhaps if the buggies are on at South Winchester on Friday, I might change my mind.

I have already played Monday in a foursomes comp with Darren carrying my bag for me and using the remote to get his own clubs round and yesterday I walked at Cams Hall using my friends electric trolley.

I must be 95 cents short of a dollar.

Well, Lewis, I feel as though I have bitten off more than I can chew. It is a good thing that my friends insist that I play or I just would not bother.

I had a new knee last year and it has only just got well enough to walk round a course, but the problem with the walking is not my knee as much as my heart. I run out of breath very quickly and then of course every swing becomes a struggle. I don't like giving fivers away and my friends are nercenaries when it comes to money.
