Rant of the Week 1

OK, here is a light hearted, but serious post.

Between now and Christmas I will have a "Rant" each week and feel free to comment. My nickname at the moment is 'TheLyth' but by the festive season it may have changed to 'TheScrooge'.

THIS WEEKS RANT

First Bus and Leeds City Council.

During the last year the people of Leeds have had new Bus Stops installed, with the effect of causing Traffic Jams. It is down to two new types of Stop.

1. On roads that are wide enough for a Bus to stop and allow other traffic to pass, they have built the Stop into the road and formed a Car Parking Lane and when a Bus now stops, it blocks the road. Great idea!!!!! - Specially when I take the direct route to my Golf Club I could get behind a Bus and end up taking 15mins longer to get there.

2. Leeds has also had a lot of Bus Lay-by Stops put in, and the actual Shelters seem to have been put in the wrong way. Instead of the actual Stop being put on the end of the Shelter that would allow the Bus to get completely into the Lay-by, they have put a lot of them on the other end so the Buses can't get totally into the Lay-by and leave their back-end blocking the road.

What a waste of money! Any other areas had this done?

Lyth, yoo forgot to mention the taxi drivers touting for business, around St John's centre. There's a taxi Rank 100 ydsaway but do they use it, do they ****. Add that to the equation and it's pretty diabolical. The worst thing is that they're supposed to be doing all this park and ride, free bus etc but its just got worse.

 The conspiracy theorist in me thinks they've done this on purpose, put the spoke (so to speak) in so they can start chaging us £5 a time to come into the centre.

 Colin, is that a rhetorical question? Have you a job proposition?
