Dunlop
Fascinating to read thread re Dunlop Maxflite. Today I tried my teenage Spalding, my 20yo Dunlop Peter Thomson, my 40yo Tommy Armour 845s, my current Snake Eyes blades and some Ben Hogan (pre Callaway) Apex blades; plus some old Nicoll of Scotland Brian Huggett blades. The Thomson irons are every bit as good as the Hogan and the Snake eyes and I shall get them re-gripped.
The reference to Castle Golf Clubs took me back earlier to c1960 when I had some Jimmy Hitchcock clubs made by Castle, and I wonder if the date given for the Max Faulkner clubs was too modern.

I had a set of Max Faulkner irons made by the Castle Equipment company in 1960. I bought them direct from the factory in Newington Causeway. London. Excellent clubs with a very sharp leading edge.
I know all the clubs you have mentioned and some of them were real beauties, but then all clubs were nice blades in that era. I had a set of Wilson Haig Ultra's as well,
Nice to see you have maintained a nice low handicap, William.

We should have a 60's/70's equipment competition (probably still got some flares to match), although using those Maxflites at the range it should be somewhere with very, very wide fairways.

My first set of clubs were Max Faulkner though I bought them because of the price, circa '72
