Matchplay Events?

Posted by: user20126 [FORUM MODERATOR] | Fri 16th Oct 2009 16:08 | Last Reply

I'm thinking of setting up a Matchplay league or just a knockout matchplay event.

Do I make it an event and everybody turns up and plays one game or should I let people contact each other to play their games?

What do you think?

The one we did for the CGL was sorted by the opponents.  As the draw progressed each pairing agreed a time and place for their match.  This helped if you were drawn against someone who was based some distance away as they were never played at members own clubs.  A few pairs played their matches at regular summer league matches using one of the tee slots, but that was more to the sharp end of the draw.  It worked really well with the two finalists going out first at the final summer league fixture last Saturday.

Having said that, as I got knocked out in the first round I only had to help organise one match...
