GS Open - What Points to Win?

Posted by: user41897 | Mon 14th Sep 2009 21:05 | Last Reply

Done my desk study and it definately looks like a course to think your way around and not to bite off more than one can chew.

Looking at the course and plotting my route I think I'd be very happy to finish with 25 points off 3/4 of 23.4 (18).

I reckon the course will definately favour the lower handicap player as wayward or duffed shots will be donated to the greenkeepers.

So what do people think is going to win it? 30? 36? 40?

Just wish I'd had more (any) time to practice.

Looking forward to it though.

You mention Saunton I got a groin twitch..............If I had to play that for the rest of my life I wouldn't be bothered as it changes every day. Got to go again soooooooooooooon.

The look on your face on 18 david was prieless!

Yep Darren - did read your excellent review. Incidentally - and as a benchmark - what did score when you went round?

It looks the closest to a 'proper' course as I have ever taken on with decent carries over nasties to even find your ball so I am really looking forward too it.  I'm just dissapointed that I've been so busy at work of late that I have not been able to play enough to be prepared sufficiently.

Anyway its about the taking part isn't it..?

I reckon 38 points will win it, I'll even put the name in a sealed envelope before it starts with the name of the winner.....

Andy was more of a social/review experience so didn't really record score.  Nor the balls I lost

He's not called Tim '37 pts or thereabouts' in CGL golf circles for nothing.

I'm only in the Organisers Cup, Pat.  With the pressure off I'll probably shoot a 28!

I don't doubt Saunton is good - closest I have got is turning around in the car park when we were on holiday in Croyde last year.

Maybe I should suggest to her indoors another holiday there.....

If they are off full handicaps I reckon it will be about the 40+ mark and I have a sneaky suspicion there may be 2 people in this bracket. Could name them if you want via PM.
