Breaking hundred? how many attempts
HI Guys , Said i might start a post like this to see how many people try and put too much pressure on themselves to break the 100 , there first barrier,
Well for me it was just 3 attempts , first 3 rounds went 126 , 106 , 99
Really pleasing especially as it was a nice parkland course par 72
Humberstone heights in Leicester, fantastic muni
Never been over 100 since , average shoting now is low to mid 70's with the odd nightmare in the eighties thrown in,( i know never contented ), and last year actually shot level par 68 at local course , i set myself targets at the begining of each golf season and up to now i've accomplished each one ,
so guys come on , tell us your story

Im not sure how long it took me - never really took note when i started.
My friend has been playing quite often (once week) and has yet to break it....

You have natural ability, Graham, you beat me, as I took five rounds to break 100, 104, 109,111, 124 getting worse all the time and then 99.
But my progress after that was very rapid, first ever handicap 6 at Chingford in five months, 4 handicap in six months, less than a year later I was scratch.

Dunno when I first broke 100, as I've only been playing seriously for the last couple of years.
I set myself a target this year of breaking the 90 barrier. Something I acheived a couple of months ago when I scored a 78. Then set myself a target to get my 1st eagle which I achieved a couple of weeks ago.
Not too sure what to target myself next.

I've got this one, first ever was a 67.
I loved playing all nine holes though.

Ok so how long? Well I've been playing off and on for years (more off...). Two years back my wife bought me and my sons some golf lessons - thoroughly reccommend doing something like this with your kids (used to be Karate but work go in the way). So had some lessons over 18 months and the odd knock around par 3 & 18 holes.
Only started playing regularly in April (3-4 times/mth). So think it was my 4th or 5th game after playing regularly. I went around Chingford in 91. Been close a couple of times since but am pulling the ball for some reason at the moment - need to get back in front of my pro...
So the answer is either 27 yrs (I played my first game around 19 or 20) or it's 5 games. I'll plump for 5 games...

According to my records I managed it on my second recorded round - mind this was only after I started taking it seriously so who knows? Do remember the first time I broke 90 early last year though - just need to be able to do it on a more regular basis.

Iv'e broken 100 twice this year in a three week period in June and been close a few times with 101's to 104's, thought i had it beat but now i'm creeping back up to the 100 and teens and even twentys again. I always feel that i'm going to play well when leaving home then reality sets in when i reach the first tee!

Hi,
Got the bug after a week in the Algarve where I played the Laguna (Villamoura) with some strangers - what a great intro! Started playing courses this year after using the driving range and having lessons over the winter and it took me 4 rounds - but after that it didnt happen again for another 6 or so! Still, getting below that was my aim for this year so I'm happy enough - the aim now is to beat it consistently......
