Best shot yet?
Hi Guys , just wanted to see what peoples thoughts were on there best shot ever hit , i've had a few to think of myself , but today gave me one to think it may be my best yet ,hole 15 at garstang golf club 445 yard par 4 ,slightly uphill, stroke index 1 ,firstly i hit a poor tee shot 200 yards into rough and behind a set of trees ,so had 243 ( sat nav ) left to middle of 2 tier green , knew the pin was on bottom middle so got out 3 wood , and hit best 3 wood ever , drew it nicely round the trees and came to rest on green 4 inches from hole , nice little tap in birdie , nicely on my way to a 70 , the bogey on the last annoyed me as it could of been 69 , never mind great game enjoyed ,let us know your shots
happy golfing

I am fortunate that I have had many shots that I have been very pleased with, in fact, I still occasionally produce one when I least expect it.

Couple spring to mind for me, strangely enough both with my rescue (sorry John) hybrid thingy. And the good thing they were witnessed by other people so I could bore them later with it...
18th at Belton Woods in the 2008 N v S, decent drive (for me), scuffed layup leaving me 185yds to go over water to the green and, probably for the first time ever with that club, absolutely pinged it onto the green. Shame about the three put but we won the match.
Then a long par 3 (about 175yds?) in Portugal in February, deep bunkers in front over a valley. Again with the rescue I drifted it high for the wind to bring it back down to within a foot of the hole. What made it even better was that it touched down just as David Marshall's group were walking off the green and saw it, and by their reaction it must have been pretty close to an ace.

Should be a 4 iron second on the par 5 5th at my home course in NZ (went in the hole for an albatross), but truth is I half scuffed it and it just ran and ran!
A 275 yard 3 wood to 6 feet on the 14th at Taba Heights was pretty close to the best feeling shot I have hit (missed the putt but that is another story....)

Graham, sounds like a quality shot, I wish i'd have seen it. Like to see you do it again thought :-)
My best was 180 yards from the hole in the monthly medal on the the 18th at Gatton Manor, blocked out on the right behind the bushes, slightly fluffy lie. I take a 4 iron, nail it straight off the face with a 30 yard cut to land 4 foot from the hole. Hole the put for a 73... nice!
Thanks for bringing back the memory, seems like an age ago!

Don't care what I used to get it there, it got there!

wow Paul, thats some golf you just described there!

I witnessed it and can confirm that after saying he would do the above while stood on the tee, he promptly topped his drive 30 yards
No seriously, I was a cracker. It was like watching a kid running downstairs on Christmas morning to see if Santa had visited. Seeing him dashing up the fairway, trolley in tow, stammering "I think it's gone in, I think it's gone in" as he ran past me. Then he ran onto the green, checked the hole and celebrated like he'd won the lottery. He was buzzing for about 7 holes!
I think one of my recent favourites was at Hilltop on the massive 12th green. After hitting GIR but taking too much club, I was 17 yards from the hole. Dropped it straight in for birdie. Was made even better by taking the shine off Paul's 25 foot par putt!

I would put "Best Shot Yet" into three different categories.
BEST RESULT
BEST EXECUTION - It did what you intended.
BEST CIRCUMSTANCE - Produced when needed.
Otherwise, everyone who has a Hole-in-One will say that shot. (Usually)

For me Lyth, it has to be "The execution". Nothing better than hitting a shot exactly how one envisaged and intended it.

Hi Lyth ,got to say the shot did exactly what it said on the tin ,just what i wanted it to , draw it round the trees and end up on middle of green ,closer than expected though,

My best shot:- I cut a 190(ish) yard five wood from behind a tree over two small lakes and through the gap in the trees that landed like a feather and finished pin high six feet from the flag for an eagle putt, which i duly missed (typical!!). the most pleasing aspect was that I meant to hit it that way, visualised it and executed perfectly and from a position where i was struggling to make par made birdie

Mijas golf club, Los Olivios course. Had a hole in one 3 days earlier at the same club but on a different course and this was an inviting par 3 around 175 yards. I wonder if I could do it again. Wind blowing from the front right with the pin short and central. Elevated tee and I mean elevated. Lots to consider with my shot then. Settled on a 6 iron given the elevation and the pin being at the front of the green. Aim to the right of the green and allow the wind to drift the ball back in was my plan. Spent like what seemed an age lining my stance up, practice swing seemed perfect, away we go. Caught it as sweet as a nut with the ball flying out in the intended direction, holding in the wind before finally drifting back. As the ball floated in the air towards the pin I could sense that it was going to be good. Thud. Pitched 18" short of the hole, bounced up and hit the pin only to rebound around 6". Birdied it obviously but was so made up to have executed the shot exactly as I had planned it taking in to account all the other vaying factors that this shot felt better than my hole in one of 3 days earlier.

I just had my best ever shot today, On the 9th at delapre. Its a 349 yard par 4 and after my drive i was left with about 120 yards to go with a decent spongy lie in the semi rough. The pin was at the front of the green and i knew i had to pitch the ball on the fairway to get it close. I pulled out my pw and struck the ball well. The ball went dead straight right at the hole it bounced a few times and rolled into the cup. The rest of the round was garbage but im glad i played today just for that shot, i will remember it everytime i pull my pw out the bag.

Thinking about it only one shot springs to mind 14th hole at whiston hall 329 yard par 4.Red hot day in june and I was having one of those days pulled out the driver and flushed it like an arrow down the middle and made the green in one(the ball ran for about 60 yards) to leave 10feet for eagle only to three putt for par, like I siad one of those days hence I had some lessons with the flat stick

I pulled my tee shot on 17 at Handsworth, landed in green side bunker about 20 yards from the pin. I flushed a 60 degree 5 foot past the pin only to watch it spin back into the hole for birdie. Now that was a shot.......that i will never repeat!
Unfortunately most of my shots at the moment are in my memory for entirely different reasons... doh!

Oh yes Kev, that 5 iron shot will stick in my memory, it was a thing of beauty and something I aspire to. Just a few feet of draw to bring it in over the bunker and into the sloped part of the green to kill it. Stunning. Funnily enough I remember my shot just prior to yours, a 5 wood from about 10 yds further away plum into the face of the enormous protecting bunker.....
