New clubs for begginer
Hello, thanks for reading my post i just need some advice on what clubs to purchase. I have just started to play golf again after 20 years out and really enjoying it. i have borrowed some clubs from a friend at the moment but need to buy my own and im thinking of a package set just to start with. i know how to hit a ball and prob play off around 28 if i had a handicapp so would like to buy something half descent which will improve my game. i have been looking at the wilson deep red package set from american golf which they will do for £310 and reading from the reviews its a fairly forgiving ideal beggineer/novice set? any advise and input would be really appreciated to help me on my way. many thanks Shane.

Shane, there's certainly a wide range of irons David suggested (those CG Tour muscle backs look beautifully undestated). You could try going into shops that have a net in the back and trying out clubs there. They'll put some tape on it to avoid marks (also will where on the face you hit it) unfortunately you dont see the end result but it's better than buying blind.
If I can give you a tip: try not to look at the price. Select from each set your favourite iron be it 3,7,9 etc. and just hold it. See if the balance is to your liking and then check out the looks. Try not to read reviews, except on here as we have no axe to grind or products to sell.
Good luck. I came back to golf after a 15 yr break and am so glad I did.

There are plenty of secondhand quality clubs around on the market. That is what I did when I needed some clubs after my layoff. New clubs are secondhand after one round.

i agree with dave lee m8 ,you buy a set of cleveland irons and after a few years ya swap em for a brand new set free of charge and also ya buy a driver and get a fairway wood free ,ya cant go wrong m8 cleveland are very underated and in my opinion exellent clubs esp the hibore xls driver and fairways u cant go wrong ),

From your post I am thinking if you should be buying some 'Game Improver' irons rather than a 'Beginners' set.
It all depends on what standard you think your golf is at the moment, and what it's likely to be within the next three months.
