Club damage - Is it serious?

Posted by: user33026 [FORUM MODERATOR] | Thu 6th Aug 2009 09:12 | Last Reply

While playing last night, I noticed some damage to my pitching wedge.  The little piece of plastic that covers the joint between the club head and the shaft has come away and has slid up the shaft by about a quarter of an inch.  I have pushed it back down, but I don't know whether this forms part of the joint or is just cosmetic.  So my questions are: -

  • Is there a chance of my clubhead following the ball in the near future?
  • Does it need a professional repair or can I use an industrial epoxy from work to secure it?
  • Is this an indication of something more serious starting to take place?
  • Thanks in advance.

No problem with it Chris, mine do it all the time especially if I've soaked them in warm water when I clean them.  They are just cosmetic to cover the glue joint.  So in answer to your questions:

    1) With your swing, not a chance - they'll probably go in different directions

    2) Give me £20 and I'll superglue it back on for you

    3) Yes, you are spending too much time looking at your clubs

I only noticed when I was wiping the face with a towel after chipping on.  It's not like I take them to bed with me.......
