golfshake open northeast results
we ended up havin a weather day indeed sun shine and lots of wind
the course was in reasonable condition, greens were quite fast, fairways still a little long but still a nice course
some of the holes are designed a treat lots of water, bunkers and hazards every where
hence the warning sign on the first tee
this course is not to be taken lightly for the competant golfers
a turn out of twenty golfers mostly all in the higher handicap section
it was a tie for the first postion both golfers shootin an respectable 37 pionts each
but on count back the first section was won by
stephen martin 37
steve lee 37 runner up
out of the four in the lower handicap section
stephen slack shooting 29 points
with runner up adrian hope on 28
so for the northeast there will be only two qualifiers
stephen martin over 18 and stephen slack under 18
will post up full results in next day or so with some of the pics of the course

Well done both Stephens. Would've gone myself but it was a bit too far to travel. Good luck flying the north east flag.

Paul, what happened to the last 3 chaps ?

That's unreasonable but I've been in the same position Paul. I ended up out of pocket when I ran the second high handicap and Paul Williams ended up out of pocket when he ran the West Mids qualifier. I was fortunate when I ran the Belfry comp earlier this year that I had a waiting list and was able to tell people if they didn't pay in time I would give their place to someone else.
Unfortunately people don't realise the time and trouble it takes to organise one of these things, often with a personal outlay up front. When you are then let down by attendees, you wonder whether you should have bothered.

Poor show, bad etiquette.................They should cough up.

I ended up about £25 out on HHC II. It would've been more like £75 but I managed to negotiate two green fees back on the day. I didn't make a penny out of the Belfry event as everyone paid cost and I used all of the vouchers as prizes. I did convert the vouchers to cash though as I knew I could use them up easier than the competitiors (another of the little personal sacrifices people don't notice).

If people have committed to the event & you don't get at least a weeks notice that they can't attend then they should pay up. If they don't I wouldn't let them enter any further comps until they did.
Darren, can we have a 'name & shame' list of people who have done this so people who are organising events can take caution to these people??
John.
