Buddy Requests when Profile not Public
Mesage for John Pettitt really but an issue to be resolved possibly?
I have a buddy request from John. Because his profile is not public (for understandable reasons) the buddy request does not show up in the 'pending' list and as it does not show up there is no way to accept it.
I asked Darren who replied thus:
"Without checking and obviously giving you John's data I would suspect he's blocked out his profile to private. If he;s trying to buddy with people but block from others he should do friends only"
I think this means John that you need to set your profile to be visible to friends (buddies). This means only people on your buddy list will see your profile. If you are leving it as-is then I cannot accept the buddy request. Another slight flaw in the system. That said, Im more than happy with the system - flaw's and all.
Just didn't want you to think John that I was ignoring your buddy request.

Hi Andy, the problem arose when I was having trouble with getting a fabricated score off my profile. I assumed, wrongly, that by making my profile private that no one would be able to see this fabricated score. I will put it back to public now as I previously had it.

You are so right, David. It will happen to you later.

I was aware and understand the reasons for making in Private John.

How dear thee! Yes there are flaws but this isn't one
These are the options for your profile for which I think John may have set to 'Private' but needed to do 'Friends only' the default value for new accounts is 'Site Only'
Site only: golfshake.com members can view your profile and connect with you.
Public profile: public access to non golfshake.com members is available for your profile.
Friends only: only your golfshake.com golf buddies and group members can view your profile.
Private: no one can view your profile or find you via a search.
