Positive Mental Attitude
Amazing what a positive mental attitude can do.
Played last night on my own at Garon's Park in Southend and scored a 97 for 32 points off 24.
The interesting thing was that I was really dissapointed for only getting a 97. 6 moths ago I would have been happy to be under 110. I was dissapointed that it wasn't around 90. Amazing what a spell of confidence and much more positive can-do attitude does. I lost 4 balls, was 3 and 4 putting on some but regardless I was confident and positive and for the majority of holes was making fairways and greens to get 6 pars and 3 bogies.
Looking forward to South Winchester on the 24th. Bet that will put me in my place.

Andy that feeling of disappointment never goes away right through the hcp range, even pro's they soot a 66 and complain it should have been 62. If you don't have that feeling I doubt you would ever improve keep it going.

Paul,
I agree about the different pressures playing in a group or on your own and thats why 3 holes were poor. When I started 2 chaps in a buggy drove up just as I was starting off and I wondered if I should have let them go first - sliced drive. On the 2nd I sliced again off the tee and let them through - all unsettling. Then on the 16th a four ball let me through and they all watched me hook my drive into a pond. So yes, less pressure when alone but does help you hone the game - I spend the whole time talking out loud to myself tell me what to do!

Andy, congratulations on a great score.
I always use the PMA thing during my game.
Even if I'm off the green by four or five feet I'll still say out loud, "This for birdie..."
