Had my first round with new AP1 irons last Saturday.
Have been custom fitted with Titleist AP1's. I must say I do love the clubs, however judging distances was a problem and need to get used to this. I usually hit around the mid to low eighties and was looking for a set that can take me a step closer to breaking 80.
Had a nightmare front nine of 52, but was not going to get too despondant considering they was out for the first time. The back nine was a total opposite, a game of two halves you could say coming in on 39 so was well chuffed.
Also complimenting the set I purchased 2 spin milled vokey wedges, 52/08 and 58/08. I was very impressed with these especially around the greens. I had many oppurtunities for 1 putt but thats a different game!!
All in all, very pleased with purchase, just need to get around the missus for playing at least twice a week. Not easy as many of you know!!

Well done for only taking 9 holes to get used to the clubs! I got a new set a couple of months ago and am still having problems. I was starting to score in the 90's more or less every round and now I haven't broken 100 since getting the new set. Not really sure what the problem is but I am so much more inconsistent (and I wasn't very consistent to start with). My driving is pretty much ok and even my putting has got a little better but the bit in between is all over the place. Doesn't help that I can't play at the moment due to a dodgy back (which could have something to do with the high scoring as playing in pain isn't quite as easy as when your not in pain). I think I hold back when striking the ball as I know it's going to hurt.
I think a bit of time off, get the back sorted and I'll be back with a vengeance.

It does take some time to get used to a new set of clubs.
When I bought mine I played my best round ever when I went out with them for the first time, then after that couldn't score!!!

Ian, had the La Jolla knife 3 and 5 woods myself and found them easy to use. Since got the Cleveland Hibore 3 and 5 woods and find them even easier to hit. Paid around 160 quid for the pair.

Paul, the AP2 irons were out of my price bracket. All in all I have purchased the following from my local pro:
AP1 Irons 4-PW + Custom fit
2 Vokeys S/M 52/08 58/08
Titleist X97 Stand bag
Total cost £670
I could have got it for around £40 cheaper but without the custom fit so I am happy with that price.
