HHC II - West Mids Golf Club
Firstly a big thank you to all who attended, a lot of new faces and the ever supportive regulars.
The venue I felt was ok, I dont think the standard of the course was as good as last years visit, the bunkers (of which I found many) where very poor. I hope they improve for next Sundays Golfshake qualifier.
Back to the game though, 15 players and excellent weather conditions from reports it rained everywhere else in the west midlands apart from the part from on us.
Mark Butcher won the tournament with 40 points, Aidrian Murray came 2nd with 33 points pipping Martin Litchfield also on 33 points on countback. Ray Perryman out-drove Robin Macdonald for Longest Drive and Martin Driscoll won the nearest the pin on the 4th.
A sweepstake was started by Adrian to see how many balls where lost in the water on the 18th, I'm not sure of the total I think it was 21, but Kevin May went home £30 better off.
The wooden spoon was taken home by Richard Friend, who came in on 20 points, now this really could have been won by several players there where a large number only scoring between 20-24 points (myself included).
Another good event - I hope someone offers to run the next

Glad you enjoyed your first comp Stephen. You did better than I did in my first golfshake comp. I scored 14 points and came plumb last (and I had to put up with Santo all the way round!). Hope you'll play in a couple more.

Thats the point of your first competition Stephen, I'm not sure that anyone plays to their expectations first time out. But you've experienced it now and it gets easier the more you do, it even becomes slightly addictive (for me anyway) and it can be difficult to actually score well in casual games without the pressure.
Just wait until you get the chance to step up onto the first at the Belfry for something like this years Springtime starter, with a bunch of sniggering Golfshakers waiting for you to spear one wildly off onto the 18th fairway.....

It's even worse when it's your home course, you go off first with 31 people watching and end up playing your second off a different course!

Actually at the SSS I popped it up just next to (not in!) the left bunker. Had a bit of knee quaking though - not as bad as the NvS thank god.

I know the yardages from most places in that bunker now......
