Hole in one

Just been away for 4 days in Spain with 10 mates for our annual golf weekend abroad. 6 of us played a Texas scramble on Thursday for a warm up, (2 teams of 3) while the rest of the boys were still flying in. A good close game was being had with the first group of 3 at level par through 10 holes with my group being only 1 over. 11th tee, par 3 and a slight hold up due to the 4 ball in front. 1st group all tee off, go and mark their balls on the green and call us to play our shots so they can putt out while we approach the green. 'Call on holes' they call them I think. Anyway, Alan tee's off and sticks one on the green around pin high about 8 foot to the right. My turn. Easy 7 iron was called for on this 160 yard, breeze assisted hole. Struck it sweetly and watched it land on the green a couple of foot to the left of the pin at which point I bent down to pick up my tee peg and leave the tee box for Dave to try and get inside my ball. I turned round to see the other 3 players in the group in front jumping up and down, indicating to me that my ball had dropped in the hole. I hadn't even seen it!!!!!!! By the time we reached the green my euphoria had died down a bit and as I retrieved my ball from the hole and turned to the other group I calmly said "I think that puts us 1 under" and strolled to the next tee singing "I only need one shot, I only need one shot" We went on to come in level par as a team but the opposition must have been destroyed by that shot, as they came in 4 over. Sunday came round and I nailed a 6 iron on another par 3, different course to 2 feet, pity it bounced straight back instead of skipping forward as that could have been 2 holes in one in one weekend!!!!!!!!!!!!! What a weekend that was, came 2nd in first comp and finished 3rd overall for the weekend, complete with longest drive prize. Problem I have now though is how do I put my hole in one on my stats as it was a team game???? Always a down side to things.

Paul

Yes I have kept the ball and it will be saved for ever along with the card.

Matt,

Unfortunately there was no car on offer for that hole, and yes I did have to buy the drinks for the rest of the party!!! Yeah mate, these new clubs do seem to be working. Just check out my handicap and stats since I got them.

What a shame you missed the satisfaction of watching it go in the hole.

Keep the ball as my dad has a nice little trophy that is shaped like a large number one, with a place on it to put your ball!
