Had all my clubs stolen

Posted by: user15152 | Tue 12th May 2009 09:44 | Last Reply

Hi everyone, just want to warn all of you to be extra vigilant with your Golf Equiment as I have had mine stolen yesterday morning.

Went and loaded my car up ready to set off on a days golf in the sunshine and then nipped back into the house to have my breakfast.

My Dogs started barking so I went into the front room to see what they were complaining about and there was a guy at my car. By the time I'd got through the house and the back gates onto the drive he was disappearing into a white van and away. He'd smashed my drivers side window, took my stereo, sat nav and MP3 player. Then he'd popped the boot release catch and swiped my bag of clubs.

Really upset as I've only just got my new Titleist Clubs and typically having had them only since friday haven't been able to contact the Golf Insurance company to add them to my policy, So I'm not covered.

Christopher, that's a bummer, check your policy, usually high cost items are insured at £1k threshold. Proof of purchase seems to be the biggest obstacle but shouldn't be a problem in this case. Also it's not as if you left the door open.

I've been paranoid for the last couple of weeks as I was cleaning my clubs outside the garage when a couple of lads came by on Bikes. I'm sure I heard one of them say when they thought they were out of ear distance 'we'll have to keep an eye on that'

I've photographed my clubs now (just bought a 56* and 60* Nike satin tour wedges yesterday) but you know how it is, the money's only a small part of it, the hassle of getting different gear and getting used to it is v time consuming. I reckon things will get worse as more and more people lose their jobs a boom in knocked off gear will no doubt happen.

Chris,

Check your home contents cover. As the items were within the boundaries of your home you will get automatic cover, some policies are £250, £500 or even £1000 with some of the larger firms.

If you have personal possessions cover this will also apply as the items were in a locked boot. PP cover starts at £1500 normally, there may be a £1000 theft from car limit but when you add this to contents in the open, you will not lose out.

The above assumes you have contents insurance of course!

Sorry to hear about your clubs.

I'm sure that you will be covered, either by your house or car insurance.

Well there's a bit of relief Chris. There's the excess of course but it's not like car insurance, your premium wont be affected.
