Texas scramble is a good alternative. Also if your soc is going away for a full day the morning nine can be three club only.

Texas scramble can produce some v good grosss scores and is played in pairs. Each person tees off. The better ball of the two shots is selected and you both shoot from there and so on.

Some clubs don't like it though I'm sure the current climate should be ok.

How anyone could think that playing a medal round is boring when that has always been the object of the game. i.e get it round in the lowest score possible. The only true test of ability, and one we do not see enough of. The game has gone stableford crazy and the best players are not always winning because of this.
