Sorting out my sons handy cap

Posted by: user201647 | Sat 9th May 2009 20:44 | Last Reply

Nat has put in 2 good cards into his golf club one I walked round with him the other I marked 9 holers a adult member was playing behind by himself he asked to join Nat and marked the next 9 his first card was 87 the next card was 92. he also belongs to another golf club and goes into comps there the last 3 he has played really well shot 91-92 each time I have been trying to get second club to send his cards over to first club for the last 2 months so his handy cap at 1st club is 29 which is what is was last year how do I get his handy cap sorted out these scores are from the white tees, he is going into a junior open on the 28th if plays of a 29 handy cap he would have a good chance of winning but that would be cheating if he plays really well he can play to a 20 some times, have been told that he could be disqualified so what do I put his handy cap as on the day of comp if his club has not sorted it out.

I've replied to this on another forum Heather.

Basically what I said was, "Contact the handicap secretary at both clubs and get them talking to each other".

I hope you get this sorted out for Nat's sake.

Thinking about this I would think that the handicap secretary at your new club should contact the handicap secretary at Nat's old club and ask him what his handicap was when he left.

This would mean Nat starting at his new club with his handicap from his old club.

I've only ever been a member at a golf club once, so have never changed clubs.  Therefore I'm not sure what the procedure is for transferring your handicap.

Hope this helps.

When you are a member of two Clubs you have to nominate your "Home" Club. This Club then holds your 'Official Hcp' and is in charge of it. Scores from your 2nd Club are then transferred as and when. then when you enter a Comp at another venue you have your 'Official Hcp' from your "Home Club".
