Google Earth
Hello Guys,
Does anyone else here use Google Earth to look at their own and different golf courses throughout the country and world?
I use it alot and I find it an amazing free software program where I can measure exactly the distance my ball has travelled from tee, the distance remaining on a shot to the green and much more. As it is satalite images you can make everything out even the people who are playing golf when the images where taken!!
I have marked my local golf course with loads of markers, stats, i.e distances from winter to tees, winter greens etc etc. You are more than welcome to check it out.... if you do a search for Backworth, England you will find it.
So does anyone else use it to study a course before playing on it??

I use Google Earth to look at courses, but I also use Live Local (http://local.live.com/), it's got a more comprehensive coverage of the Midlands and you can do birds eye views of a lot of the courses.

Unfortunately the area around Hellidon is not high enough resolution to see the course adequately - shame as I was wanting to see a course plan is there isn't one on the clubs website (not that I have found anyhow). If anyone has a course plan I'd welcome a copy - does anyone know where you can buy course guides on the web - the booklets that show the yardages and layouts of each hole for a given course? I'd like to get one for Hellidon (soon!)Google earth is great especially around London and the SE where much of the area is photographed in high res. Check out Las Vegas on Google earth and Murtyl Beach. The imagery and courses are stunning.Check out the Google earth Communities website at http://bbs.keyhole.com/ubb/ubbthreads.php/Cat/0 and look under Sports and Hobbies or do a search under golf - some great links come up. Ive added a few links to UK courses - try http://bbs.keyhole.com/ubb/showflat.php?Cat=0&Board=EarthSports&Number=720059&fpart=&PHPSESSID= or search for "ainault forest golf course"

Andrew that's cool. It didn't work because the HTML editor is a bit buggy, unfortunately I can't write every part of the site and try and use some free scripts if possible. I will try and see if I can fix the particular bug.
I've also provided a tutorial on how to use embedded objects which is what you are trying to do not linking an image which you have done.
Click for tutorial on embedding objects for inclusion of flickr/image shack slideshows, youtube videos etc
