Winning Debut

Posted by: user20126 [FORUM MODERATOR] | Sun 19th Apr 2009 20:09 | Last Reply

I represented my golf club, Stapleford Abbotts GC in the Norman Plum Trophy today.

It was my first game representing my golf club.

We played Ballards Gore GC.

Six of us went over to their course and six of us played at our club.

The game was Stableford, off 3/4 of your handicap, betterball.

My partner and I went out in the first game and I'm pleased to say that we won our game by 43 points to 34 points.

Both Alun and I played well and it was a good day for the both of us.

The two guys we played, Steve and Keith were good company and I could not of asked for a better pair of opponents.

Next Saturday I'm the first reserve for the Jubilee Cup team, and we are away to Burnham-On-Crouch.

Hopefully I'll get into the team and continue with my winning start!

Well done Russ, sounds like you've done yourself and your golf club proud!  Good luck for getting into the team next weekend as well

Thank you all for your kind words.

I must admit that I could not have asked for a better pair of opponents, they certainly helped me to enjoy my debut.

This Saturday I'm the first reserve for our Jubilee Cup match away to Burnham-on-Crouch GC.

I went last Monday afternoon to play a practice round and it's a really nice, well kept course.  A little pricey for visitors but we'd been allowed to play at member's guest rates.
