Absolute belter on there at the moment, 72 points playing off 8.9 handicap.  Love to have seen that round!

Yes and the 100% greens and fairways - who are these golfers..

Are they just clumbsy with the key board or a tad sad........

Its a shame because it bring the honesty and integrity of our great game into disrepute....

Hows about "the virtual liars board"...........

Darren, I don't think many people take it that seriously at  the moment, but if you want some suggestions:

1.  Only allow users with a public profile to go on the VLB (as far as I could see none of the top 20 or so have) so there can be a bit of scrutiny.  Maybe only allow full members to go on.

2.  Have a minimum number of games before inclusion - say 10 career and a minimum of 2 per month.

3.  Only rounds with full stats or official Golfshake comp rounds to be allowed on.

Anyway, back to the 72 point round, I reckon from a starting handicap of around 15 then he must have shot a 3 under round to get that, or am I misunderstanding how it works?  Helluva round!

Darren,

My suggestion would be to have a 'group' leader board where one person of the group oversees it & they are the one who can invite / remove players. This way most players will have played together at some point & it will be more used.

John.

John F, create a group/society and this automatically includes the virtual leaderboard for the group members only.  Very accurate then.

Tim et al,  will tweak some more.

Tim, 72 points off fifteen handicap on a par 72 means he has gone round in 36 shots.

David M, yes just access the golfshake.com (events) group - this is anyone who's entered a previous GS event

Paul W, no it's all rounds.  The Round authentication is ued when we run competitions against the stats but again because it still could be abused we pick a random winner from the top x

Two things that I have picked up on while looking at the VLB.

1. These rediculas scores are usually the only ONE posted by that player that month. As though they only put it there to be on top.

2. On one score, 52 shots were taken off his Gross score even though he was a 13Hcp. Was that a "Software" issue or a "Magic Pencil" issue?

It's not a software glitch, just .................   Fat Fingers

When you add a round you have the ability to change the SSS thus the box for CSS and also the stroke allowance ie handicap which is used for the stableford points.  Reason for this is for scratch comps and 3/4 handicaps etc

Just dont some tweaks so let's see what it is like tomorrow morning when the VLB is updated

Another interesting thing from the figures.

FIR & GIR

I can't put my hands on the correct figures at the moment but Cat 1 players (Under 5Hcp) should hit about 78% FIR and 70% GIR. On VLB we see 20Hcpers with better Stats than that.

I know you can't take into account accurate figures for the Non Profile players because it only shows Hcp AFTER the round is posted.

Finger are fat, the mind is fast but the fingers not quite so

David, the other problem is stopping people entering test/dummy data. I do filter some of this out and will be filtering some more by tomorrow

Regards, Darren.
