Too Competitive??
Hi all,
I need some advise, or at least someone with the same issue I have!!
I joined a society in October last year and for October, November & December's days, I played quite badly and got given a handicap of 22. January's day and February's Day I managed to score 35 points and 37 points respectively. I have now been cut to 17 which is definately heading in the right direction as golfshake suggests I play to 14, so I'm glad I'm heading the right way.
The issue I have is this... After playing what I would consider 2 solid rounds for this year in the society, I cannot seem to capture that form when playing any rounds outside of the society. I've had about 5 rounds outside of the society since the turn of the year and seem to struggle with every aspect of my game when having a 'friendly' knock about.
Am I just too competitive or is purely down to the fact I concentrate better when knowing there are points at stake that actually count towards something???
Its really frustrating me at the moment, even much so that I'm considering just playing once a month because at the moment that 1 round a month seems to be my only good one!!
Any thoughts or suggestions or even members with the same issue please feel free to post, even if it is to make me feel better!
Cheers
Lee

Suggest to your playing partners in these friendly knocks that you play against each other for pride. We often decide whether we are playing stroke or matchplay before we start and this means that the competitive nature is satisfied.

Stuart, excellent targets but best no of up and down in two from 150yds?. If that's not static then I'm wondering what you're doing wrong to stay at 16.
If Lee wants to be even more competitive I'd add to each your list 'consecutively'.

Ah, makes sense now. Since you did it twice today, your next target s/be from 180 yds and two putts.
By the way, one of the Spanish lads, Olazabal (I think) expects to get it in from 150 yds.
