Children’s Golf In America

Posted by: user201647 | Tue 10th Mar 2009 17:04 | Last Reply

Nats coach was telling me that in America in compactions are much faire for juniors they have about 4 or 5 different tees for the children to go from, so a child who is over 5ft tall and is a 15 or under handy cap goes from a different tee. Children over here in most compactions have to go from the white even if they are very small if they don’t then don’t get a handy cap it makes a big difference. I feel until they are bigger they should be able to ho from the lady’s tees, all the ladies I have seen playing golf are much taller then my son yet get to go from much farther back than him. Just wondered what other peoples views are on this. Most American children have an advantage over are juniors they get a lot more help with there golf if they are talented.

I agree, it makes sense but where do you draw the line. We have three tees already. If we then add another 2 for kids, where would that leave me (besides I struggle to drive to the ladies which is embarressing enough!!)

From the other side of the coin, playing from the mens / white tees will only do him good if he continues to play.

I don't see any harm in having a 'Youth' tee and a 'Kids' tee.

All I do with Samantha at the moment is let her hit her wood from the tee and then she will hit her 7 iron or PW down the fairway.

Then when we get near the green I get her to chip the ball onto the green.

Once on the green I put the ball about three feet from the hole and let her putt out.

She's not good enough yet to play a hole properly but as long as we aren't holding anybody up I can't see any harm.

So I do think we could introduce a new 'Kids' tee, and let the 'Youths' hit from the ladies tee.

Give them all the help they can get to keep them interested, I tried with my daughter but she lost interest when she didn't get it airborne every timr.
