Every insurance company will try anything they can to not pay out on a claim.
That is the insurance business, tell the punter that you are covered for everything, then point them at the small print when they try and claim!

Can you not send in the paperwork for the replacement glass?

Ah I see.
Are they thinking you just want a new set of clubs?

If your car was broken into then that is a crime and should have been reported to the police as soon as practically possible in order to get a crime number. A crime number will show the insurance company that the break-in took place.
Secondly you should have contacted the insurance company straight away with the crime number and ask them whether you could make good the repair, to hopefully prevent another break-in.
The way you have gone about it will obviously make the insurance company have doubts as to the validity of your claim.
If you have replaced the glass yourself then your only option is getting proof of this from the scrapyard, after all they dont give things away.

Paul, if they';re asking for proof of damage that sound promising as they'd tell you straight away if you're clubs were not insured. I think you need just to state that in interest of security you needed to instal replacement pronto. You might need to get a receipt fron scrap yard.
Check your policy to see if they replace with new or deduct for wear and tear. Also you'll need some sort of receipt for purchase of your clubs, if you paid cash off a mate then the loss adjuster will have the upper hand but the again you wouldn't have paid top dollar. If you bought them from a club pro I'm sure he'll provide you with replacement receipt. If gotten on a credit/debit card should be ok.
I know this is closing the door after the horse has bolted but I photograph things of value that are easily nickable, guitars, recording gear etc. This has just reminded me I haven't done my clubs.
Likewise keep a camera in the car just in case you have a smash.

What if the camera gets nicked as well

Welcome back John P.!
I'm with Golfplan & I'm sure they only do new for old.
I don't suppose you've got any of the broken glass that you can use a proof?
I think as long as you've got a crime reference number you should be OK, if they try to delay it ask them where it states in the policy they need proof of damage?
John.

I'm sure you will be okay but for future it is definitely best to take photos of the insured item and keep them on your home computer (or even better on an online storage space).
Also take photos of the break in so you have some proof!
Anyway, best of luck..

Insurance companies don't like paying out and will question a lot.
Wait for "were your clubs in full view?"
An idea to mark your own clubs is to put your name on the shaft under the grips.
BTW Welcome back John. Where have you been, full report on my desk by 9am tomorrow with filled in Drivers Book and Tacho's!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
