The Price of Golf?
After 17 years of Sunday morning football (and five years of organising the team), I have hung my boots up to give myself more time for playing golf.
So, what sacrifices have you made for this glorious game?

In my case family Dave, to get to single figures and stay there takes allot of your time . Unless of course you have bags of natural talent and athletic ability , neither of which I possess.

I'm quite lucky as both my wife and daughter have horses so instead of her being a golf widow it's more the case of me being a horse husband. However as David L states, if you want to maintain you got to spend the time practicing though in m y case to a lesser extent. Summer months see me out there on th practice pitch a few evenings a week. That can sometimes cause problems.

Thanks for the compliment Paul but really there's no natural talent I just work had for my game.
Which pleases me no end as if I was gifted with natural talent I might of ended up as a shop assistant!!!

Talent will only get you so far, as will hard work. To be good at golf, it takes both.

I'm with Dave Ley,
I have sacrificed Saturday mornings with my family to play golf & also a large chunk of my salary making the wife happy when I return.

Stu, please don't take it outside of golf, lol I've worked in IT for the last 15 years, at one time providing the technical support for the Computer sales guys. I could tell you many a story

Stu, can't say. Completely different industry to golf is Computers. Atleast with golf you can substantiate with a handicap or a round of golf. Computers, you press the ON button and you allegedly know what you are doing

David, you obviously have a talent which I'm sure will be fully exploited if you spend the time playing rather than wasted in the pub. I'm speaking from experience. God, I've gone all serious.

Patrick - thought I was the only horse widow on the site - mainly why I took up golf as they used to just clear off to the stables all weekend and there's a limit to how much extreme elephant snowboarding exclusive to Motors TV you can watch. Still, at least golf is cheap in comparison...
Just off to get the Horsebox plated as it happens..

You getting the box blinged up Tim? You got a chav horse? Does it want green neon lights putting under it's saddle and burberry tack?
Reply : Tue 24th Feb 2009 15:22
That was interesting - getting it plated is like an MOT for a car but using a sledgehammer! And leave our horse out of this, she's just a big (actually very big) sweetie.

Tim, it is certainly cheaper, even if you had a membership at Wentworth. And golf doesn't make the car stink of horse sht, though I'm constantly reminded it's halage (hailage?).. still stinks of horsesht.
