Winter League - Doncaster
Many thanks to all that turned up (34 in total), not so many thanks for those that did not (9), would have appriciated a text or e-mail to say you could not make it.
Darren, maybe there should be a name and shame or no-show table on the site? At least then organisers would all be aware of who is probably not going to turn up on the day!
Those that did enjoy the game in the dry (again) i hope you all enjoyed the course and the banter, i gave the course a good write up last week and i think it was valid.
I will post a full report and the results later.
Will be organising a game here in the summer, when the regional dates have been posted to make sure there is no clash. We can get on on a Sunday after 13:30 for £25 each, which i think you would all agree, would be a great price for such a set up.
To the winners well done, to the losers, there is always next time!
Allan

cheers for today al, great course, great price, great day.
to all those who didn't show up , if your serious about enjoying golf then you missed out badly and if you didn't let allan know in advance then you should be named and shamed!!
i'm sure these events take alot of organising and you 'no shows' just cause unnessesary headaches on the day.
thanks again allan

Allan, glad to hear you had a good event.
Hopefully I will be able to make it up for the summer game, as long as you don't have it on the third Sunday of the month (my own summer league play then!)
We will have to talk about our game between the two leagues.

Allan - Thanks alot for arranging todays event. Course was excellent, definately like to play it again at somepoint. The no-shows really missed a treat.
Trophies were great too.....Mines got pride of place on the mantlepiece, out of reach of the kids!
Look forward to Bondhay.

Another good one Al. Nice little course off the winter tees, would be interesting to have a go in the summer especially if the fairways run faster than they did today - given the amount of sprinklers around I bet the tees and greens would be nice and soft. The greens were a bit bumpy (compared to the last 4 course I've played!) but adopted the tactic of rattling them in which seemed to work. Wouldn't be suprised if I'd have had less than 30 putts all day.
Well, I ground another round out, thought I was in with a shout with 38, but still very pleased with myself for that - apart from the two blobbed holes.
Keep up the good work and name the no-shows on here, see what they've got to say...

I have to agree with all of the above comments and thank you again Al for organising another good one.
I hope some of those who didn't bother contacting you to say they couldn't make it feel suitably guilty but, I doubt it. I hope these people realise the amount of work that goes in to organising an event like this and how much of a problem it causes when they don't turn up without a word.

Make sure they never get invited again. Downright bad manners IMO. Cannot imagine them deciding not to turn up for a flight for their holidays.
