Worst round of my life!!
As Stephen has been on here about his fantastic round today, I thought I would share mine.....
Well what can I say, I have not played this bad since my very first game of golf. I could not hit anything of the tee, my irons kept slicing wildly into rough, my game around the green was abysmal and to top it off I kept underhitting my putter!
I have recently been shown the 'correct' way to hit the ball and at first it was great but now it is really catching up with me. I have completely changed my grip, stance and swing so I suppose it will take a little time to come together. (altough I nearly walked off after the 7th!!).
So anyway, after this farce of a game this afternoon I thought what the hell, go to the driving range near my house. Got 90 balls and played through my irons. Only mishit about 6-8 of them!!!
Got another 90 and the same!!!!!
This game is so annoying

Seeing as you've change quite a few things in your swing Dennis it will take a bit of time for you to get used to it.
The more you practice/play the faster this will happen.
I know a guy who bought himself a new set of Ping golf clubs, we didn't see him for six months.
When we asked about him we were told he couldn't get on with them so wouldn't play with us as he didn't want to make himself look an idiot.
I wouldn't mind but at the time the three of us were all around the 28 handicap mark and this guy played off 13! Maybe he just wanted to win everytime, who knows!

There are some like that Russ!
I know I need to keep it up and I will. No point in changing anything otherwise!

You'll get days like that mate, look at Padraig Harrington, missed last 2 cuts. As long as you just take it on the chin and carry on knowing that it won't happen everytime. Whats that line about facing triumph and disaster the same, and both being imposters?
(altough I nearly walked off after the 7th!!) Ha, I was almost carried off today on the 6th!

Stick with it Dennis, you'll get there with your new setup...it's just going to take time. It is a frustrating game, if only we could take the shots we hit at the range sometimes out onto the course...
I'm off to play your course today Dennis (Sherfield). My first real 18 holes since starting the game back in September last year. It's always been 9 holes here and there. I have played 2 x 18 hole courses in Vegas last October, that was something of an experience. Absolutely beautiful courses...but my game then....nothing but shocking! ; )

Hope you enjoy your round at Sherfield today, Matt. I have been a member for two years and find both courses very nice to play.

Thanks John, I think we are on the Wellington today. Sherfield is on my radar of clubs to possibly join so this is hopefully my `free intro' round. Keep your fingers crossed that I hit a fairly decent round, I dont think it will be less than 100. More like 105-110 (If I'm lucky)
Anyway, I'll catch up with you all later.

If you are going to join, mention my name as the one who recommended you and I then get an extra month for nothing. I will also offer you some instruction.
The Wellington is longer than the Waterloo, but I still feel the Waterloo is much harder to score well on.

I agree John, both courses offer different challenges but I prefer Waterloo.

Hopefully, if the buggies are on then I will be playing the Waterloo, tomorrow.

Ouch, talk about brought back to earth with a bang. I found the Wellington course to be quite tough today, quite wet in places too. And the wind...made the course play even longer!!!! Not a good round, but it was my first attempt at 18 holes in the UK...I'm not going to dwell on the negatives just the positives. Lets just say the final shot tally was over 115
Bogied the 1st, 6th, 10th and 15th as positives. A better back nine too!
Buggies were in use today John.
God this game is hard!

The buggies were only allowed on the Wellington today, Matt, my friend phoned me after he had shot 82 there today.
I will go tomorrow and if they are not allowed on the Waterloo, then I won't play in the comp, just have a round on the Wellington.
I agree, this game is hard.

Too many scuffed/topped shots for me John which really bumped my score up. I was hitting pretty much straight off the Tee but the wind from 3 through to around 13-14 was quite strong and either you were hitting into the wind or it was coming from left or right. Putting was strange too, a good few 3 putts. Hard greens in my view not as flat as what I have been used to!
My playing partner definately saved me many shots on the back nine today....told me to take a club I was more consistent with off the ground instead of my 18* hybrid (thanks Oli).
Still, having a bad round makes me more determined than ever to get back out there and play again!
Good luck in your comp tomorrow if you play John.

Yeah, I'm going to jump on the bandwaggon. Sadly it was one of my bad rounds yesterday.
Had been looking forward to the round all week long - been to the range 3 times last week in preperation. Been hopeful of the weather staying as beautiful as Friday and Saturday. I couldn't play either Friday or Saturday. Was gutted to find strong winds and rain when the blinds were opened yesterday morning.
Anyways the golf matched the weather. I have come to the conclusion that I cannot play in strong wind (God knows how they managed at Birkdale last year?).
When I eventually got to the dance floor, my putting let me down big time. I stupidly started changing things, grip, stance, approach - all to no evail!
I ended with 27 points!!! I had 37 on the same course last week. Only 4 pars today and too many blobs to think about.
Ah well, take it on the chin, and look forward to mid week - hopefully get a game with the father in law!
