Alignment
For several years I have aligned my driving by using the arrows or line on many new golf balls and then drawing another line perpendicular to that one. I then point the ball on the tee toward my target using the arrow. Then I aim by driver club face with the perpendicular line and then aim using the arrow on the ball. This has greatly help in lining my body up properly. But, some friends I play with say it is againsts the rules, but can't show me where it is against the rules. If you can use in to putt then why can't your use it to drive? If against the rules please tell me where that rule is found. Thanks.

Hi Lynn,
I do it all the time and I'm sure it's not against the rules.
I have a blue line on my golf ball which I use to line up my putts. Just lately I've been using this line when I put the ball on my tee.
What is the difference between a line you have drawn on your ball and a line printed on your ball by the manufacture?
I'd be interested to see what other people think about this.

You are required to mark your ball so that you can identify it as yours. If you choose to mark it in a way that helps you to align your driver and aim, there is nothing illegal in that.

Rule 41/6b:
Anybody hitting the ball further than me cannot use Lynn's tip..
Other than that what you are doing is no different to alligning with the logo on the ball etc......Hence perfectly legal for me...........
