"Go to club"

Posted by: user112040 | Sun 8th Feb 2009 11:50 | Last Reply

O.k. we've all had a mare on the course, where either your driver is not working, or your fairway is faulty etc, etc.

So when your in the mire whats your go to club?

For me its my 4 iron, on a good day i can get 180 yards out of it. So whilst we're all bored stiff and itching to play i thought i'd ask the question.

Also what are your thought on rescue clubs? I personally can't get on with mine and thinking of replacing it with a 3 iron.

I much prefer the irons myself, I bought a rescue wood and every time I hit it, I needed rescuing. so it is now redundant and on the market to anyone who would like it.

My 'Reach for' club is the 5 iron.

I hit it 170 - 180 yards and normally straight.

I don't have a rescue/utility club as all the ones I've tried only seem to get the ball as far as my irons!  I hit my long irons well so I don't see the need to change to a rescue/utility club.

I got a square driver at X'mas and after the shock of how high it had to be teed and a bit of a practice I really can say that I've never hit drives so well and so straight so my trusty Wilson 1200 has taken the back seat (though I still practice with it). If I ever was off with my driver I'd always feel confident with my Ping 1 iron. Go for the club you feek most confident with...there's nothing wrong with hitting 7 irons off the tee.

200yards with a three iron. Kevin, you are having a laugh, I have seen you hit it almost three hundred yards.

Well, it would have been my rescue club but after today, time will tell!

My go to clubs are my 3 and 4 hybrids.  3 off the tee and 4 off the deck.

Not really got one for general play, but for 10 to 90 yards I always pull my gap wedge out.

Alan, if our second shot is no more than a seven iron, how come you are still 10 handicap.

for me I would say either my 3 wood as I still hit this about 240, or my 5 Iron which will generally go about 185, though I just bought a titleist 4 iron which is nice too

I think I will get you to drive for me at The Belfry, Stephen, 240 yards will suit me fine.
