Lack of support

Posted by: user106721 | Thu 29th Jan 2009 19:43 | Last Reply

Call me a moaner or call me what you like. Does anyone ever fix the bugs on this site. After numerous emails about my mates stats not working properly and numerous promises of them being fixed still nothing. Am i the only one who experiences this? Is this because I am a basic member and need to spend some cash?

As we don' seem to see this kind of complaint vey often one can only assume that it is you who is being affected by this bug.

May I suggest that if it is really important to you to have your stats at your fingertips that you purchase software specifically designed for this purpose only, Scoresaver2 is what you need.

You willl only have yourself to blame if the output is incorrect.

I don'tknow if there is a problem with the stats but there is one big incorrect stat showing.

100% FIR   100% GIR  36 Putts playing off 10 = ???????  41pts, no 46pts.

Something is WRONG there too.

Steve, will respond first thing tomorrow.

David,  where abouts are you seeing this ?

John, the golf score tracking engine on golfshake.com is pretty feature rich allowing societyies to run their systems online

Regards, Darren.

I know your engine is feature rich and does an excellent jpb, Darren, just that I felt that Steves gripe should have been in the form of a PM to you and not as a post in the forums. That is why I suggested he gets his own software and does it himself. No reason to complain then.

The leaderboard stats are always a contradiction.

Absolutely, I love the site here and think 'most' things work very well.

If you dont like it, buy some other software instead - although a nice post pointing out issues should be fine as well.

The OP does come across as somewhat harsh though....

Can basic members record stats.....?

I thought that was the idea of the "premium plus elite super scorers input annual investiger scheme" whereby we contribute £9.99 for the pleasure of such scheme and input facilities.....?

Innit.......

Robbie, info and break down of services here http://www.golfshake.com/services/

Don't think it's to harsh, if Steve's emailed in, which I know he as and am checking the issue.

To be honest the support balance is one of the most difficult aspects given we offer a complete free service and a paid for Premium/Platinum service and something that we are constantly reviewing and looking to improve.  At present we do have someone working solely on the straight forward support queries, Helen, although any indepth stuff does come through to me.

We get asked a lot of questions around scores, handicap and the calculations and whilst we can churn out stock answers we do feel it adds a sense of community and a personal touch if we response rather than directing someone to help pages or FAQs.

Regards, Darren.

First reply in relation to David's query which relates to the Virtual Leaderboard

With regards to the virtual leaderboard and duff data we do track out some of the bogus stats but some get through. The virtual leaderboard is just a bit of fun can be used as a comparison but yes some junk does get included.  Run within a group/society and hopefully it becomes more accurate between you and your mates.

We also do run mini comps such as the Winter Open via the virtual leaderboard stuff but do use the round authentication system which requires you to get a buddy to approve, again this is open to abuse and thus any prizes tend to be done within a prize draw of the top x performers rather than an outright winner.

Well, what a response. I guess i should keep my mouth shut, but hey we all love a bit of banter

Darren, I think you have done a remarkable job here in your spare time and i don't mean to be offensive.

All i was saying (in frustration) was my mates stats are on his profile but don't seem to register in our group. I will spend my ten pounds as i think this site is a worthy cause and you all seem like  great bunch of people.

Happy Days!!!!

Regards

Leslie

No worries Steve.  All valid points and bugs should be fixed.  If you check your emails you will see a response to getting your mate within the stats.  He's not actually a member of the group and the person showing up is a managed account you have created I think.

Aside, I do now work on this more than just my spare time.  Spare time, day time, night time and some time

Finally, I'm quite suprised Wayne wasn't more direct and had a few below the belt digs.  I must have done something to make him happy
