Using the same make of golf balls

Posted by: user201647 | Thu 29th Jan 2009 07:36 | Last Reply

I have been told by quite a few different coaches and people that it is best to use the same make of golf balls as it will help my sons golf game he uses Nicklaus super soft, he seems to hit the balls futher and really likes them. What are other peoples views on  this

Agree completely.  Find a ball you like and stick with it.  Not only will you get used to the 'feel' of putts, you will get used to the distance of partial swings, improving the short game.

I do think that playing with the same brand of golf ball all the time would be benefit you.

Over time Nat will find what golf balls he likes to play with and will start to use them only.

I've got the same problem Heather.

At the moment I'll play with Titleist, Srixon, Nike and Callaway.

All the Top Flight golf balls I keep for my dad and nephew.

The rest go into a different carrier bag and I'll use them on the practice ground when I haven't got time to pick them up.

I played the Priors course today, lost two balls but found six balls, two titleist, one callaway, one dunlop, one ultra and one top flight.

I play Top Flite, as good as anything else on the market at a fraction of the price.

I choose a ball that suits my putting and prefer top flites too. Most people say they're too 'hard' and so are difficult to get a feel but I disagree. I find softer balls like titleist very difficult to putt with.

Distance usually pops its ugly head up when people talk about balls but the way I see it is if you strike the ball well with a controlled swing there's v. little in the result. Not enough to wax lyrical about variances... hit a 'performance' ball badly and it'll go the same distance as a commando.

To score well you need to play well around the green.

Everyone finds a ball they like and then they stick with it.

My top flites are not hard at all, in fact they are a soft ball and are excellent around the greens. The XL is way too hard for me.
