Conwy 18 Jan 2008
First of all may I take this opportunity to thank Wayne for the invite to play a great links course. Also to all that played - Tim/Neil/Chris/Paul/Wayne and myself.
I thoroughly enjoyed the whole day, the course was really good and didn't suffer too much with the wet weather. However, the WIND blew hard (And that was just Wayne !!!!) and made playing conditions very difficult but I know everyone else enjoyed it just as much as I did.
I have already stated would love to come and play the course again in the summer when the weather will be better.
Again many thanks Wayne.

Don't go reading too much into the scores chaps, it was not easy out there today. I have never hit so many 3 woods and 4 irons in a single round, just in a desperate attempt to keep the ball from getting in the air because once it was up there there was no knowing where it would go. The yardage book went out of the window and it was on gut feeling alone most of the time - I took 5 to reach the green on the 442yd 5th!
Having said that cheers to Wayne for organising it, for a good day out and the weather looked good (even though the wind gusted up to 28 knots - 32mph). And my impressions on my first ever seaside links? Loved every minute of it!

As I dont get to play decent links courses very often, I think I would feel a bit cheated if it wasnt blowing a gale! Half the draw of these courses is the unpredictability and the fact you have to try shots a little bit out of the ordinary!!

Thanks for letting me gate crash Santo, and I look forward to seeing you again on 1st March. And I got 17 points, with 7 of those on the last 3 holes!
After hitting the first green in regulation but 3 putting (misjudged the pace) I crumbled and struggled to pick up points. I won't blame the wind (although it didn't help!) because it wasn't the cause; it was too many poor shots and very poor putting. This round really sums my game up at the moment. I'm having a tough time and then it all clicks into place with about four holes to go - very frustrating! Think I'm going to play a couple of easier courses to get my confidence back a bit.

Everyone gors through periods like you are at the moment, Chris.
When I had these spells I used to travel from Bristol across the severn bridge to St. Pierre, becasue I found it such an easy course and always played well there. So a good score there put me baqk on track and boosted my confidence as well as my morale.

I may go and play at Perton Park, the scene of my two sub-90's. I don't seem to have a bad round there and the course seems to suit my game. Putting is my biggest problem at the moment and the key to improving that is practice.

Still buzzing about Conwy, really looking forward to St Davids - how much tougher can it get? Ha ha, bring it on. Suffering a bit at the moment, right wrist is very sore from banging down on the ball to try and keep it low. I can now see why people either love or hate seaside links courses, you need imagination in your shot making and if you haven't got that it just won't happen. Hanging a ball out 20yds off line from the pin and watching the wind bring it in is so satisfying. And only just over 2 hours away!

Must be nearly my bedtime then. Anyone want to tuck me in?
