Is your golf feeling the credit crunch?

Posted by: user77921 | Fri 16th Jan 2009 12:08 | Last Reply

With all the doom and gloom thats cirulating at the moment, I was just wondering if anyones golf is suffering because of it?

Anyone playing less now than they were last year due to financial constraints?

Thankfully I paid my membership upfront otherwise my £600 per month loss from compared to last year would have stopped me playing as regularly :-(

I am not playing at all, but that is due to physical constraints.

Hasn't stopped me playing at all.

Although I do tend to play twilight rates at Crown locations which saves some anyway!

Am looking into membership at Sherfield Oaks if anyone has any good offers / suggestions

LOL

The thing I like about Sherfield is the two course option - think it may stop me from getting bored as quickly...

The other advantage is the Crown network of course

Until you use the Crown network, Dennis you will not understand what a good deal it is. South Winchester for a start.

Perhaps the new car will be capable of making the journey.

I play more golf now due to the credit crunch! I'm unemployed!

The problem is that my golf will come to a complete stop from the beginning of next month, as my first direct debit payment is due and the money just isn't there to pay it!

I'm with a few agencies so let's hope one of them can get me some HGV driving jobs, and soon!

Russ, I hope you get some work soon sir - being unemployed is no fun, I know!

John, have not played south winchester as yet - only sherfield and blue mountain but I enjoy both. Will have to make it out there soon.

I believe there are quite a number of crown clubs around so I am talking myself into joining every minute!! Pine Ridge is not too far either and I believe this is one of the newest additions.

Dennis, Pine Ridge is a new addition, as you say, and a great course it is to, but at the moment they have not built up a decent membership, so it is still mainly pay and play, which means that rounds are slow and hard to get a game.

Paul, the wife says the same thing to me!

She says when I'm at work I haven't got time to do all the jobs around the house she wants doing, which is fine with me.... lol

Now I'm unemployed we haven't got the money to do all the jobs she wants doing around the house.... lol

Nice price there Dave.

I was talking to one of the blokes who played in my Romford Winter League 2008 game today.

He's going for a four day break in Devon and it's costing £220 each.

Now for the hotel, three meals a day and four rounds of golf, that's good.

Oakhampton is one of the course/places he's going too.

That is the Manor House Hotel which has about five courses now, I believe, Russ.

Stayed there for a week many moons ago and it was fantastic, so much to do even if you are not a golfer.
